Been ripped off well we have several times by what we thought where reputable
companies. Here are but a few of know rip offs.
Berkley Premium Nutraceutals a.k.a. Berkley Supplements located in Cincinnati,
Ohio offered a FREE sample of their natural energy product all you had to do was
pay the shipping charge. Sounds pretty good, we need energy, we want natural,
why not? Now, if we only listened to what we preach about the word FREE. Well,
we never got the sample. Instead we got a full order of the product at full
price. When we called to find out where the FREE sample was and why instead we
received a full order at full price plus shipping we where told that it was sent
out earlier and we should have already received it. Then we asked why we
received the full product and why we where charged full price for something we
did not order. We where told it's an automatic order if you don't cancel it in
writing. Since we never opened the package we asked if we could just send it
back and receive a refund. "NO" was the reply. Why? Because it's eatable so it
could be tampered with. But it's unopened still in the unopened shipping
package. They hung up. We've contacted both the bank and the credit card company
for a dispute claim. It took over three months for this to be settled.
Yep, here's another one City Search dot Com. This is a pay per listing online
yellow pages website. You pay per click. We got involved with them to help build
our visitor flow. It did not work out well and we cancelled with them on
1/10/03. Everything seemed alright until 10/7/04 when we noticed on our credit
card bill we where charged by them for what we had cancelled over 18 months
earlier. We where then charged again for another month before we had time to
contact them about the first charge. They came up with a lame excuse that they
needed to have the cancellation in writing but they would cancel the account by
phone now. Doesn't that sound odd? They couldn't really cancel it the first time
by phone but they can now. When we asked to receive credit for something we did
not order again we got a lame excuse. And no reply to our request. We've
contacted the proper people.
Some of the worst rip offs are e-mailed to people everyday. We've got a stock
for you or I've won the lotto but I'm in a foreign country for "X" dollars I'll
sell it to you. Folks, if it sounds to good to be real it's not real. The only
way people can get ripped off is if they allow it to happen because of their own
greed.
